Growing up is difficult in the best circumstances. It is even more difficult when your home life is a mess, you are a "half breed" and at times you consider yourself "a bag of dirty laundry." At one point Deidre describes her circumstances as, "Is life going on without me or what?"
I have not walked this walk, but the emotions and feelings ... searching, not fitting in, fear, and lonliness are ones we can all relate to.
