It’s time to break the chain of violence against women. That is the call of One Billion Rising, and I stand fully with that call. Watch the video below, and take a moment to think about the persecution that women go through, and have gone through throughout history, because of their gender. Both men and women are made in the image and likeness of God; let’s give respect and honor to both images. Let’s end the violence toward women and walk in love.
One In Three Women On The Planet Will Be Raped Or Beaten In Her Lifetime.
One Billion Women Violated Is An Atrocity.
February 14, 2013 is V-Day
This movement strikes a deep cord with me, not only because I have been molested in my lifetime, but because I have a friend who is right now trying to keep her sister from being beaten and abused by her husband; I have another girlfriend who was raped, in grade eight (in the school yard), and a few years ago, I had a friend from university come over for coffee and she let slip that her husband had hired someone to kill her (but the police found out and intervened, thank goodness). This is the world we live in. It’s not pretty. It’s full of hurting people who sometimes take their anger out on others. And sometimes we have to stand up and shout, “It’s time to stop the madness.” Speaking out about rape and molestation is one way to take a stand. Check out V-day GO HERE.
God calls us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Adam and Eve are neighbors, man and woman are neighbors. It’s time to love each other with the respect we both deserve.
