The Shack Revisited! Is it a good book?

Posted on by Deidre Havrelock

Millions have found their spiritual hunger satisfied by William P. Young’s #1 New York Times bestseller, The Shack–the story of a man lifted from the depths of despair through his life-altering encounter with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Now C. Baxter Kruger’s THE SHACK REVISITED guides readers into a deeper understanding of these three persons to help readers have a more profound connection with the core message of The Shack–that God is love.An early fan of The Shack and a close friend to its author, Kruger shows why the novel has been enthusiastically embraced by so many Christians worldwide. In the words of William P. Young from the foreword to THE SHACK REVISITED, “Baxter Kruger will stun readers with his unique cross of intellectual brilliance and creative genius as he takes them deeper into the wonder, worship, and possibility that is the world of The Shack.”
Hey there! I’m in the midst of reading The Shack Revisited…There is More Going on Here Than You Ever Dared to Dream. If I was to explain Baxter Kruger’s book in one sentence, I would say: “This is a book about the love of God…and how that love is looking to encompass, fill, and commune with us.” In amongst all the other Christian books out there, this is one of those needed reminders; it realigns us to what Jesus is all about, what we’re all about…love. Sometimes as we go along our Christian journey (learning to stand on God’s promises, getting ourselves to church on time, and working with different ministries) we forget what a treasure we have–God expressed in three persons–all of whom reach out to us in love. We are made for relationship,  a relationship with God the family.
Is it possible, do we even dare to dream that God seriously wants to embrace us–the answer is YES!
If The Shack‘s theology made you confused or angry—you need this book!
If you feel Christianity is about rules–you need this book!
If you feel Christianity is about judgment–you need this book!
If you sometimes get sidetracked with “works” (letting relationship take a backseat)–you need this book!
If you’ve been going to church for umpteen years, but still aren’t sure that God loves you…then yes, you need this book!
I’m thrilled that Baxter Kruger is joining us at the upcoming MotherHeart Conference. Now I’m going to go finish this great book!
